Kazuma Kaneko’s Tsukuyomi Coming to Nintendo Switch April 2026 – Deck-Building Roguelike Gets an Enhanced Port

Colopl has officially announced the upcoming release of Kazuma Kaneko’s Tsukuyomi for Nintendo Switch, with a global digital launch scheduled on the Nintendo eShop for April 23, 2026.

First introduced on mobile and PC platforms in 2023, Tsukuyomi is now making its debut on Nintendo Switch, offering fans an enhanced experience with new content, reworked gameplay mechanics, and exclusive features tailored for the portable home console. Kazuma Kaneko, renowned for his iconic character designs in the Shin Megami Tensei series, brings his distinct artistic flair to Tsukuyomi.

The game melds strategic deck-building RPG combat, tower dungeon roguelike exploration, and Kaneko’s captivating visuals, creating a unique gameplay experience.

Players take on the roles of four Jinma Hunters, each with their own playstyle and deck customization options, as they navigate the dangerous, demon-infested skyscraper known as The Hashira, which looms over Tokyo Bay and has been sealed off due to a supernatural incursion. Reflecting on the game’s development, Kazuma Kaneko noted that the emergence of generative AI inspired him to experiment with new creative tools, much as digital art once evolved from traditional pen and paper.

"Using a generative AI model trained on my artwork, we allowed players in the original game to create unique cards based on their actions and decisions.

Through this, I felt a deeper global connection to players and sought to use these cards to build something extraordinary.

That idea culminated in Kazuma Kaneko’s Tsukuyomi, a game born from the intersection of technology, creativity, and community," Kaneko stated. The Nintendo Switch edition of Tsukuyomi is described as a "reborn" version, featuring numerous additions and improvements over its predecessors.

These include: - A brand-new playable character - Expanded story elements - A redesigned user interface for Switch - Rebalanced gameplay and mechanics - Fresh card art illustrated by Kazuma Kaneko - 3,600 unique cards curated in collaboration with the community Notably, while the original mobile and PC versions incorporated AI-generated card art through the proprietary AI Kaneko system, the Switch port is an entirely offline experience and does not utilize generative AI for in-game content creation. Colopl’s commitment to evolving Tsukuyomi for Nintendo Switch demonstrates the studio’s dedication to delivering a robust, replayable deck-building roguelike adventure for console players.

With the digital launch on Nintendo eShop set for April 23, 2026, fans can look forward to exploring The Hashira, collecting and building decks, and engaging in visually stunning battles brought to life by one of the gaming industry’s most respected artists.
