IO Interactive, the renowned Danish game developer behind the critically acclaimed Hitman series, has officially announced the upcoming release of both Hitman World of Assassination and an all-new James Bond title, 007 First Light, for the Nintendo Switch 2.
This dual announcement further cements the studio’s commitment to bringing its major franchises to Nintendo’s next-generation hardware, promising enhanced gameplay and native performance for on-the-go and home gaming.
Hitman World of Assassination, lauded for its intricate stealth mechanics and global sandbox environments, is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in June.
This marks a significant evolution from the game's previous appearance on the Nintendo Switch, which relied exclusively on cloud streaming.
For the first time, Nintendo gamers will be able to experience Agent 47’s meticulously crafted world natively on handheld hardware, enabling smooth offline play and delivering the full suite of gameplay features without the need for a constant internet connection.
The Nintendo Switch 2 release will include a Signature Edition, offering fans the complete Hitman experience.
Alongside the main campaign, players will have access to Contracts mode, Escalation missions, Elusive Target arcades, the Freelancer game mode, featured live content, and additional locations and missions from the Hitman 2 Expansion Pack and Hitman 3 Deluxe Pack.
IO Interactive has also detailed pre-order bonuses: digital pre-orders grant the Signature Pack with exclusive in-game outfits and items, while physical pre-orders come with both the Signature Pack and the Quack Pack, which features a bonus outfit and item.
Hitman World of Assassination combines the franchise’s most celebrated content from Hitman, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3.
Players guide elite assassin Agent 47 through increasingly complex scenarios, leveraging disguises, an arsenal of inventive tools, and improvisation to eliminate high-value targets.
Key locations, such as Paris’s extravagant fashion shows, Dubai’s soaring skyscrapers, and Miami’s vibrant motor races, highlight the series’ dedication to immersive and replayable environments.
The game’s challenge lies in strategy and creativity, rewarding those who experiment with different tactics and attention to detail.
Simultaneously, IO Interactive is gearing up for the release of 007 First Light.
Announced as a brand new entry in the James Bond video game saga, 007 First Light promises an entirely original origin story for Britain’s storied superspy.
According to an official statement on IO Interactive’s website, players “will step into the shoes of the world’s favorite secret agent to earn their 00 status.” The studio has confirmed that a full reveal and new gameplay footage will follow later in the week.
The announcement was first shared during a recent Nintendo Direct, where fans were treated to trailers and gameplay previews.
As pre-orders for Hitman World of Assassination open—for both digital and physical editions—enthusiasts can look forward to engaging with the most complete and technologically advanced rendition of Agent 47’s exploits ever offered on a Nintendo platform.
For Nintendo Switch 2 owners eagerly awaiting new stealth-action experiences, these releases herald the arrival of two top-tier gaming properties crafted by industry veterans.
