Nearly a year after the Nintendo Switch release, Feral Interactive is bringing Hitman: Absolution to the new Nintendo Switch 2 platform.
The original Hitman: Absolution was developed by IO Interactive and first released in 2012; this updated Switch 2 Edition is a platform-specific port from Feral Interactive that launches on the Nintendo eShop on 22 October 2026.
What to expect on Nintendo Switch 2
Feral Interactive has confirmed the Switch 2 Edition adds mouse compatibility, an increased resolution, and a new performance mode that targets 60fps in both handheld and docked modes.
Contracts Mode will be available at launch, allowing players to create custom scenarios within the story campaign, designate up to three targets, and submit those contracts online where rival agents can compete on leaderboards.
Upgrade window and pricing
Owners of the existing Nintendo Switch version can upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for free through 5 November 2026.
After the free upgrade window closes, an upgrade pack will be available for $9.99 / €4,99 / £4.99.
For new players, Feral Interactive is offering a 25 percent launch discount until 5 November 2026, pricing the game at $29.99 / €24,99 / £19.99; following the discount period the price will increase to $39.99 / €29,99 / £24.99.
Our prior Switch review and expectations for this edition
In our earlier review of the Nintendo Switch release we awarded Hitman: Absolution a score of 7/10, citing performance compromises on that hardware.
We noted the game features more linear level design than some other entries in the franchise, which affects the familiar sandbox freedom players expect from Hitman titles.
With the Switch 2 Edition's performance mode and mouse support, the technical criticisms of the earlier Switch port may be addressed, though those improvements will be measurable only after launch testing on the new hardware.
