Feral Interactive has announced a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Hitman: Absolution, dated for release on October 22, 2026.
The port brings IO Interactive's 2012 title to Nintendo's next-generation handheld-home hybrid with a slate of technical improvements and platform-specific features designed for the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.
Feral had previously indicated that Hitman: Absolution would arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 in some form but did not specify whether that would be a free update or a separate edition.
The studio now confirms the delivery will be a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 Edition rather than a minor patch to the existing Switch release.
Feral also confirmed that Contracts mode, the cross-platform challenge-setting feature, will be available to Switch 2 players on day one.
Key technical upgrades compared with the existing Nintendo Switch release include:
- Increased output resolution in both Handheld and TV Mode
- Frame rate improvements in Handheld Mode, up to a maximum of 60 FPS
- Support for Joy-Con 2 mouse-style controls
- Improved animations and visual effects in demanding scenes
- Higher Level of Detail, improved shadow quality, and better texture filtering
Pricing and upgrade details are confirmed.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will be available at a launch price of $29.99 / £19.99 / €24.99 until November 4, 2026.
After that date, the retail price will increase to $39.99 / £24.99 / €29.99.
Owners of the original Nintendo Switch version will be eligible for a free upgrade pack up to November 4, 2026; following that window the upgrade will cost $9.99 / £4.99 / €4.99.
A new release-date trailer for Hitman: Absolution Nintendo Switch 2 Edition has been published alongside the announcement.
The trailer highlights the visual and performance improvements enabled by Switch 2 hardware and showcases early footage of the enhanced presentation.
This launch follows Feral and other studios bringing Hitman World of Assassination content to Nintendo platforms.
For players tracking IO Interactive properties on Nintendo hardware, the Switch 2 Edition of Hitman: Absolution represents a continued effort to modernize older entries for current-generation portable-play experiences.
The October 22, 2026 release positions Hitman: Absolution Nintendo Switch 2 Edition as a mid-fall arrival for Switch 2 owners, with expanded features that leverage the platform's improved performance and input options.
Expect the title to appear on the Nintendo eShop for digital purchase on launch day.
