Description

Nintendo has elevated anticipation for the next installment in its action-strategy franchise with the release of a brand-new trailer for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment.

Titled 'Unite Against The Demon King,' the trailer provides fans and industry watchers alike a fresh glimpse at the game’s fast-paced action and introduces several newly playable characters.

Developed for the Nintendo Switch 2, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is set to launch globally on November 6, 2025. A direct continuation of the celebrated Hyrule Warriors series, Age of Imprisonment expands upon the storylines and hack-and-slash mechanics that have defined its predecessors.

The latest trailer, officially released via Nintendo’s YouTube channel and eShop, shines a spotlight on innovative playable characters.

Notably, players will have the opportunity to control the Korok Calamo—a new addition to the expanding roster.

Also revealed is the enigmatic Zonai Construct, a character whose mysterious design draws clear inspiration from the wider Zelda series mythos. In the new footage, viewers are treated to explosive team-based battles, enhanced visuals leveraging the Switch 2’s hardware capabilities, and dynamic sequences featuring both new and familiar heroes.

Nintendo representatives have emphasized that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment aims to push the action-strategy genre forward, capitalizing on improved processing power and expanded storage of the upcoming console generation. "Our goal with Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is to deliver the most ambitious experience yet," a Nintendo spokesperson stated in conjunction with the trailer release.

"With the advanced features of Nintendo Switch 2, players can expect larger encounters, more intricate character interactions, and gameplay that truly honors the legacy of the Zelda universe." The Hyrule Warriors franchise first debuted in 2014, merging Koei Tecmo’s Warriors formula with Nintendo’s iconic Zelda universe.

The previous entry, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, was a commercial success, selling over four million copies worldwide according to Nintendo’s official sales data.

Age of Imprisonment aims to build upon that momentum by introducing deeper narrative elements and a broadened character selection, all while remaining true to its hybrid action-strategy roots. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will be available exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, both physically and via the eShop, starting November 6, 2025.

Fans can stay updated through future Nintendo Direct presentations and official channels as more details emerge leading up to release.
