Description

Arc System Works has expanded its acclaimed fighter with the release of the Unika DLC character for Guilty Gear Strive, available now on select platforms as part of the Season Pass 4 roadmap.

However, Nintendo Switch players must wait, as the new content is not yet accessible on the hybrid console. Since its original debut in June 2021 on PlayStation and PC platforms, Guilty Gear Strive has solidified itself as a premier title in the fighting game genre.

The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch version launched earlier this year, successfully bringing the franchise’s distinct animation and competitive gameplay to a new audience.

Arc System Works has continued their tradition of robust post-launch support, exemplified by the structured seasonal content drops. A trailer released by the developer showcases Unika in action, highlighting her unique fighting style and debuting her theme song, "CARPE DIEM." Arc System Works stated: "Unika joins the roster of Guilty Gear Strive beginning May 27th, as part of Season Pass 4.

Fans can experience her musical theme ahead of release and prepare for her arrival.

The Season Pass guarantees access to Unika upon launch." This update aligns with the simultaneous release of Unika across supported platforms, with the next DLC character, Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunner, scheduled for a summer 2025 launch.

Notably, the ongoing Season 4 additions currently exclude the Nintendo Switch version.

At present, Switch owners have access to the base game—which includes a total of 28 characters and encompasses content from the first three season passes—but must wait for further word on Season 4 DLC availability. Guilty Gear Strive’s performance on Switch has been well received, praised for its near parity with other versions and its exceptional soundtrack.

According to our review, "The most impressive aspect is the port’s technical strength, delivering gameplay that closely matches its multi-platform counterparts.

The soundtrack elevates the experience, remaining a highlight whether in intense matches or casual play." The competitive fighting game scene remains vibrant, with EVO Japan serving as a prominent stage for announcements such as this most recent DLC reveal.

Fans tuning in to the event on platforms like Twitch and YouTube were treated to the official Unika announcement and can expect more details leading up to Lucy’s release later this year. Arc System Works has established itself as a leader in the genre, and continued DLC support for Guilty Gear Strive further illustrates the developer's commitment to the fighting community.

For now, Nintendo Switch fans will need to watch for updates regarding Season 4 content as its rollout continues on other platforms.
