Super Nintendo World Expands with Captain Toad, Princess Peach, and Pikmin Appearances

Super Nintendo World Expands with Captain Toad, Princess Peach, and Pikmin Appearances Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan has become a celebrated destination for Nintendo enthusiasts since its soft launch, particularly for those enamored with the iconic Mario franchise.

However, as the park prepares for its broader opening, visitors and industry observers are now noting the inclusion of more of Nintendo’s beloved characters throughout the park, offering a richer and more varied experience that goes beyond Mario and Luigi. Recently, early visitors who explored Super Nintendo World ahead of its grand debut shared sightings of various Nintendo characters integrated into the park's attractions and decor.

Notably, groups of Pikmin—tiny plant-like creatures best known from the strategy series started on GameCube—have been discovered around Kinopio’s Cafe and the area near Yoshi’s Adventure ride.

These sightings follow earlier promotional materials, such as a Super Nintendo World branded bag, that also featured Pikmin, signaling the characters’ official presence within the park's ecosystem. In addition, the park features appearances from other fan favorites.

Both Captain Toad and Princess Peach have been spotted among the park’s elaborate and immersive set pieces, underscoring Nintendo's commitment to showcasing its diverse stable of characters.

These placements support the company's broader effort to foster a sense of inclusion for characters beyond the series’ central protagonists, enriching the theme park experience for lifelong fans. While Super Nintendo World’s launch coincides with renewed attention to the Pikmin franchise—most recently with the release of Pikmin 3 Deluxe for Nintendo Switch in October 2020—Nintendo has not yet confirmed plans for a new Pikmin mainline title on the hybrid platform.

The last original Pikmin game was Hey! Pikmin, which debuted for the Nintendo 3DS in 2017, further cementing the franchise’s legacy within the company’s lineup. The presence of Pikmin, Captain Toad, and Princess Peach within Super Nintendo World is a clear nod to the enduring popularity and lasting impact of these properties.

As the theme park continues to evolve, these creative inclusions highlight Nintendo’s dedication to its vibrant universe, ensuring that longtime players and new fans alike feel connected to the greater Nintendo experience across its hardware platforms and in physical spaces like Universal Studios Japan. Super Nintendo World’s expansion is a testament to Nintendo’s influence on the gaming industry and entertainment as a whole.

By broadening the spotlight beyond Mario, the company is effectively honoring the entire Nintendo Switch era, its legacy franchises, and the multitude of fans who have supported their favorite characters through decades of gaming milestones.
