Nintendo has expanded its family-friendly 'Hello' app lineup with the release of Hello, Peach! and Hello, Luigi! for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.

The new titles join Hello, Mario! and Hello, Yoshi!, continuing a product series that Nintendo introduced last year aimed at parents and young children.

All four apps are free to download from the Nintendo eShop and, as of the latest update, are currently available in Japan.

Background and platform details

Nintendo developed the Hello app series to provide simple, interactive character experiences on Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms.

The Hello apps allow users to interact directly with iconic Super Mario characters: tapping character faces, activating the in-game ?

Block, and triggering small animations and items on screen.

The Hello apps are listed on the eShop and follow Nintendo’s broader approach to family-oriented digital content.

App updates and amiibo integration

In this update Nintendo added compatibility for the My Mario wood block amiibo sets.

Players who tap a My Mario wood block amiibo to a compatible device will see that character’s face appear on screen and can interact with it within the app.

In journalistic terms: players can place a My Mario wood block amiibo on the reader to make the corresponding character appear and become interactive in the app environment.

New accessory: My Mario Melody Car

Alongside the software updates, Nintendo announced the My Mario Melody Car accessory.

The Melody Car is designed to accept a My Mario wood block amiibo; when a wood block amiibo is placed in the car, it plays a unique short tune associated with that character.

Stated simply, each compatible amiibo placed into the My Mario Melody Car will trigger a character-specific melody.

Context and industry note

amiibo figures and accessories have been part of Nintendo’s hardware ecosystem since their introduction in 2014, and the My Mario wood block series represents a continuation of Nintendo’s physical-digital tie-ins.

The Hello app series demonstrates Nintendo’s continued use of Switch and mobile platforms to deliver light, family-friendly experiences tied to the company’s major IP.

Availability

Hello, Peach! and Hello, Luigi! are now available to download for free from the Nintendo eShop in Japan.

Nintendo has not changed the free-download status for existing Hello apps, and the updates enabling My Mario wood block amiibo support and the My Mario Melody Car announcement are included in the recent releases.
