Nintendo has expanded its My Mario lineup with a new music-enabled building-block toy and downloadable character apps for the Nintendo Switch. Geared at young children, the updates include the "Switchable Melody Car Building Blocks Mario & Toad Set" and free Nintendo Switch downloads "Face Luigi" and "Face Peach," which are available through the Nintendo Store and Nintendo eShop.
The Switchable Melody Car Building Blocks Mario & Toad Set introduces a push-activated "melody car" that plays classic Mario tunes as it moves. Nintendo explains that the specific song and sound output change depending on which character blocks are used, and that the tempo of the melody adjusts according to how quickly the car is pushed. The feature is intended to let children experiment with different characters and motion to alter the audio output in real time.
On the Nintendo Switch front, Nintendo has released the Face Luigi and Face Peach apps as downloadable software at no charge. These follow earlier releases in the series such as Face Mario and Face Yoshi. Nintendo describes the apps as interactive experiences where touching a character's face reveals a variety of expressions. The company also notes that Luigi and Peach will occasionally fall asleep after extended play; Nintendo frames this behavior as a built-in cue to give younger players a break when they need one.
The Face Play feature links the physical building-block toys and the Switch apps: when the Mario, Luigi, Peach, or Yoshi blocks included in the Building Blocks Mario Special Set (or compatible products) are touched while the corresponding Face app is running on Nintendo Switch, the app activates character-specific Face Play interactions.
Beyond toys and software, Nintendo’s My Mario content lineup includes new installments in the Stop-Motion Mario video series. Episodes 8 ("Two People Having a Great Time") and 9 ("Is it this way? Or that way?") are available on the My Mario official website.
In licensed merchandise, Bandai has released new apparel featuring Bowser, Bowser Jr., Peach, and Rosalina. Bowser and Peach T-shirts are offered in adult sizes, enabling parents and children to coordinate outfits.
All downloadable software is available via the Nintendo Store and Nintendo eShop, and the new My Mario products and media are listed through their respective retail and official channels.
