Japanese hardware maker ZUIKI has officially opened pre-orders for a special game pack designed for its X68000 Z micro-console, featuring two of Wolf Team’s iconic titles: Granada and FZ Senki Axis.
Set for release on April 25, 2024, in Japan, this new collection is a celebration of both the acclaimed developer Wolf Team and the enduring appeal of classic Japanese computer gaming.
The X68000 Z, which faithfully recreates the design of the legendary Sharp X68000 home computer, has become a favorite platform for retro gaming enthusiasts seeking an authentic experience with vintage Japanese titles.
Announced last year, ZUIKI’s partnership with Wolf Team aims to bring some of the studio’s most memorable games back into the spotlight, and the upcoming pack is one of the first fruits of this collaboration.
Priced at ¥5,478 (approximately £28 or $36), the Wolf Team pack includes a collector’s box, a starter guide, and an SD card preloaded with both Granada and FZ Senki Axis.
As an added incentive, customers who pre-order directly from ZUIKI will also receive two exclusive alternative covers replicating the original Japanese box art of both games, making it an enticing offer for collectors and fans of classic game art.
Granada, originally released for the Sharp X68000 in 1990 and later ported to the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, is a multidirectional shooter set in a war-torn, futuristic Africa.
Players assume control of Leon Todo, a resourceful mercenary tasked with quelling a conflict triggered by the fight over valuable mineral deposits.
The game is celebrated for its fast-paced gameplay and immersive setting—qualities that established Granada as a standout title in Wolf Team’s portfolio.
FZ Senki Axis, also released in 1990 for the X68000 and later known as Final Zone on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, offers an isometric shooter experience.
Players take on the role of an elite soldier on a mission to destroy a formidable weapon of mass destruction.
FZ Senki Axis is known for its challenging gameplay, strategic elements, and engaging presentation—hallmarks of Wolf Team’s developmental prowess during the era.
ZUIKI’s renewed focus on curating and re-releasing classic Japanese games for the X68000 Z underscores the micro-console’s commitment to retro gaming preservation.
The Wolf Team game pack not only honors the legacy of the original Sharp X68000 but also introduces a new generation of players to two influential shooters from the early ’90s.
Interested gamers can visit ZUIKI’s official store to place their orders ahead of the April 25th launch.
With limited-edition packaging and authentic content, this pack is set to become a sought-after addition for fans of Wolf Team, collectors, and enthusiasts of Japanese retro gaming alike.
