Description

ZUIKI, a company renowned for its dedication to reviving classic Japanese games, has officially announced its next X68000 Z double-pack: Sol Feace & Valis II.

This highly anticipated collection, reissuing two notable Telenet Japan titles on a single cartridge, is scheduled for release on July 24, 2024.

Pre-orders are currently open through ZUIKI's online store as well as the respected Japanese retailer Beep, with the retail price set at ¥5,478.

As an additional incentive, customers purchasing via ZUIKI's storefront will receive an exclusive reversible sleeve showcasing the original box art for both iconic games. First released by Wolf Team in 1990, Sol Feace is a celebrated horizontal shooter that debuted on the original X68000 system.

The game's gripping narrative centers on a lone pilot's mission to stop an out-of-control computer intent on enslaving humanity.

Sol Feace is also distinguished by its dynamic soundtrack, composed by the acclaimed Motoi Sakuraba—renowned for his work on the Tales series, Golden Sun, and a range of Mario Golf titles.

The shooter was later adapted for international audiences, including a notable release on the Sega Mega-CD and as "Sol Deace" on the Sega Genesis, steadily earning recognition as a retro cult classic. Valis II, meanwhile, brings the sequel to the beloved Valis: The Fantasm Soldier to the X68000 Z platform.

Originally developed by Telenet Japan and its Laser Soft division, Valis II lets players continue the journey of Yuko Asou, a Japanese schoolgirl chosen by the magical Valis sword to combat evil forces.

The title first launched in 1989 and remains celebrated for its compelling characters and classic side-scrolling action. Building on its legacy of quality releases for the X68000 Z, ZUIKI has previously delivered a string of sought-after double-packs.

These include collections from major developers such as Konami—featuring the X68000 versions of Castlevania and Quarth—and Zoom, which bundled games like Genocide, Phalanx, Lagoon, and Genocide 2.

Additionally, ZUIKI's catalog includes a previous Telenet Japan pack combining FZ Senki Axis and Granada, as well as the J.B Harrold Case Book Collection from Riverhill Soft, featuring Manhattan Requiem and Kiss of Murder. With the Sol Feace & Valis II double pack, ZUIKI continues to celebrate and preserve significant chapters in the history of Japanese video gaming.

For retro gaming fans and X68000 Z collectors alike, this release presents both an authentic nostalgia trip and an opportunity to experience key milestones from Telenet Japan's storied legacy.
