Google has quietly rolled out a Katamari-themed Easter egg to coincide with the June 2, 2023 release of We Love Katamari REROLL + Royal Reverie.

The remastered bundle, published by Bandai Namco, arrived on multiple platforms including Nintendo Switch, and has prompted a series of promotional tie-ins across social media and web platforms.

The new Google search Easter egg lets users control a small, rolling orb—the franchise's signature katamari—directly on the results page.

To trigger the effect, search for "Katamari" on Google and click the animated orb that appears on the right side of the results page; the katamari will roll across the page and collect search results much like it collects objects in the game.

The feature has been reported to work on most modern desktop and mobile browsers, though desktop provides a larger canvas for clearing items.

The discovery was shared on Twitter by YouTuber Caddicarus (@Caddicarus), who posted a short clip demonstrating the effect.

Nintendo Life and other outlets tested the Easter egg and confirmed the behavior on both desktop and mobile browsers.

We Love Katamari REROLL + Royal Reverie is a refreshed bundle that combines a remaster of the original We Love Katamari with new content under the Royal Reverie banner.

The Katamari franchise began with Katamari Damacy, created by designer Keita Takahashi, and has since become known for its distinctive aesthetic and physics-driven gameplay.

The 2023 REROLL release brought the series back to modern consoles and PC, with Bandai Namco overseeing the remaster.

Google has a history of deploying playful, game-related Easter eggs in search results, and the Katamari tie-in follows that tradition.

For fans who want to experience the full game, We Love Katamari REROLL + Royal Reverie is available on Nintendo Switch and other platforms; digital storefronts such as the Nintendo eShop list the title alongside its platform-specific purchase options.

This simple, official-search-page homage offers a lighthearted way for both longtime Katamari fans and newcomers to engage with the series online.

It also underscores how publishers and platforms continue to leverage small, interactive moments to spotlight new releases.
