Nintendo Expands Super Mario Lineup with Wooden Block amiibo Sets, Launching in Japan This August
Nintendo has once again expanded its iconic Super Mario franchise by unveiling a unique range of Mario-themed wooden block sets that double as functional amiibo figures.
Announced earlier today, this innovative product line is designed with families in mind, placing a special focus on parents and children looking to bring Mushroom Kingdom fun into their homes.
These new Super Mario wooden block sets are scheduled for release in Japan on August 26, 2025, and will be available internationally in early 2026.
The line-up features a variety of beloved characters and staple items from the Super Mario universe.
Fans can look forward to wooden blocks crafted in the likeness of Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi, as well as instantly recognizable power-ups such as Stars, Fire Flowers, and music blocks.
Product photos released by Nintendo showcase the colorful collection, highlighting thoughtful attention to detail and vibrant designs true to the Super Mario brand.
The Mario block, for example, measures 8 centimeters in height, making it perfectly sized for young children to handle, play, and collect.
A Nintendo spokesperson explained that the Super Mario wooden block sets have been carefully designed to suit young children.
Each character block is specifically engineered for easy gripping and safe play.
Significantly, each figure also contains amiibo functionality—allowing them to be used as compatible amiibo figures in a variety of Nintendo Switch titles, thus merging hands-on play with digital interactivity on the Nintendo Switch platform.
The upcoming product line will be available in two sets.
The smaller three-piece set is priced at 2,980 yen, while enthusiasts seeking the complete collection can opt for the comprehensive 30-piece set at 19,980 yen.
Both sets launch in Japan on August 26, 2025.
Nintendo also confirmed that this new Mario-themed product range is part of a broader rollout, with international availability targeted for early 2026.
In addition to the wooden block amiibo line, Nintendo has announced the launch of a new Super Mario-themed app, "Hello, Mario!", set to debut this month in Japan for smartphones and Nintendo Switch.
This further underscores Nintendo's commitment to delivering interactive experiences that blend physical and digital play for fans of all ages.
Nintendo continues to innovate within the Super Mario franchise, merging traditional toys with smart technology through the Nintendo Switch and amiibo platform.
With the introduction of wooden block amiibo sets and the "Hello, Mario!" app, the company reinforces its position at the forefront of family-friendly gaming and collectible merchandise.
