Cassette Beasts 2002 Coming to Nintendo Switch 2: Raw Fury and Bytten Studio Announce New Turn-Based RPG

Raw Fury and developer Bytten Studio have confirmed that Cassette Beasts 2002 is in development for Nintendo Switch 2, with a digital release planned for the Nintendo eShop worldwide and a release date yet to be specified.

The follow-up builds on the franchise’s blend of retro-inspired visuals and turn-based creature-collector mechanics, positioning the title for the successor to Nintendo’s portable-home hybrid.

According to the publisher, the game opens in an ordinary London neighbourhood before players are transported to Nodnol, an uncanny realm that exists alongside our world.

In journalistic terms: the narrative places a contemporary urban setting next to a parallel land inhabited by strange beasts, and the central mystery asks who the occult figure Westerley is and what scheme threatens both realities.

Cassette Beasts 2002 retains the series’ core combat loop while expanding scope and systems.

Raw Fury and Bytten Studio state the title will let players record and transform into more than 250 distinct beasts, with evolutionary lines and fusion mechanics that the publisher quantifies as yielding over 50,000 possible fused forms.

The developers describe turn-based encounters that emphasize elemental advantages, utility and support moves, and adaptive enemy behavior that responds to player strategies.

The announcement also outlines companion-driven progression and multiplayer support.

Players will meet 12 different companions who can be befriended or romanced, each offering personal quests and relationship-driven upgrades that influence beast forms.

On the multiplayer side, the game reportedly includes cassette trading, cooperative encounters, 1v1 battles with power scaling, a multiplayer story mode tackling the occult mystery, and timed objectives that deliver in-game rewards.

Raw Fury and Bytten Studio frame Cassette Beasts 2002 as both a continuation for returning fans and an accessible entry point for new players.

The project marks another visible title for Nintendo Switch 2’s eShop catalogue, though the team has not yet provided a release window.

The initial report on the announcement was carried by Alex Seedhouse, who has covered Nintendo hardware and software for over a decade.

More details, including a formal release date, are expected in future developer updates.
