Developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo, Fortune's Weave places players in the Dagdan Empire as they lead four heroes across parallel storylines to avert a continental catastrophe.
Difficulty options and permadeath
Players can select core difficulty options at startup.
Normal mode is recommended for beginners and intermediate players and provides a more forgiving learning curve, while Hard mode is tuned for advanced players seeking tougher encounters.
In addition to difficulty, Fortune's Weave offers Casual and Classic permadeath settings: Casual mode returns fallen allies after battle, whereas Classic mode enforces permanent death when units are defeated on the field.
These options mirror the flexibility introduced in previous entries such as Fire Emblem: Three Houses, which also shipped with Normal/Hard and Casual/Classic settings.
Narrative and structure
Nintendo frames Fortune's Weave as a high-stakes narrative in which the resurrection of the demon god Balor threatens the Dagdan Empire.
A divine agent named Fortuna enables time travel so a descending soul can guide past heroes toward a future showdown.
The game opens in 1449 during the Heroic Games in Dagsion and progresses toward the year 1454 as events escalate.
Gameplay systems
Matches—including the Heroic Games and dungeon encounters—use classic Fire Emblem turn-based mechanics.
Players choose units and starting positions, then execute movement, attacks, and tactical options on the map.
Success depends on unit classes, weapons, terrain, and positioning.
New and returning combat elements include Combat Arts for powerful strikes and Blaze Arts—unique hero abilities that consume the user's health to achieve potent effects such as teleportation or area damage.
City life, training, and recruitment
Between matches, players can prepare in Dagsion: train at the Arena Plaza, shop at the Shopping Arcade, volunteer at temples for blessings, take certification exams to change classes, and accept requests from townsfolk.
The Pale Raven's perch functions as a hub to swap between the four hero storylines, allowing progress across parallel narratives.
Recruiting allies requires conversation, gifts, or sharing meals; dungeons offer materials for weapon upgrades and alternate battle rules where allied coordination is emphasized.
Platform features
Fortune's Weave supports mouse-style controls via Joy-Con 2 controllers for the first time in the series, letting players move units and access information with pointer input and switch seamlessly between button and mouse controls.
