Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Nintendo Switch 2: eShop Highlights Include Donkey Kong 64 and eFootball Kick‑Off

This week’s Nintendo eShop roundup centers on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second entry in Square Enix’s three-part remake project, and several notable releases and service updates on Nintendo platforms.

Rebirth continues the retelling of the classic Final Fantasy VII tale with expanded exploration beyond Midgar, while Nintendo’s online and music services receive fresh content and wider device support.

Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Rebirth brings the next chapter of Cloud Strife’s journey to modern consoles, and the release on Nintendo Switch 2 is a headline eShop launch this week.

The title expands the original narrative, sending Cloud and his allies into new regions as they confront Sephiroth and unravel the threat to the planet.

Square Enix also confirmed at Summer Game Fest that the trilogy’s concluding entry has a formal title and a planned release window, with the company announcing that the third installment, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, is scheduled for release across platforms in spring 2027, including Nintendo Switch 2.

Donkey Kong 64 joins the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack lineup this week.

Originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, Donkey Kong 64 was developed by Rare and was notable at the time for its use of the N64 Expansion Pak and its collectathon design.

The Switch Online release restores the classic four-player split‑screen modes, platforming and collectible hunts for a new generation of Switch subscribers.

On the sports front, Konami’s eFootball Kick‑Off! launches for Nintendo Switch 2, delivering accessible soccer gameplay with both offline and online options.

The title features club management, World Tour and International Cup modes, a six‑a‑side match type designed for faster scoring opportunities, and a rank system that evaluates player performance across competitive matches.

Nintendo also expanded Nintendo Music device support this week.

The service now supports computers, tablets, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and introduces a My Mix playlist feature that generates selections based on play history (My Mix is not available in web browsers).

Nintendo confirmed select Mario Kart World tracks and the Pikmin soundtrack among the first new additions available to stream.

Beyond these highlights, Nintendo’s eShop lists numerous new releases, sales and time‑limited events.

Donkey Kong Bananza DLC events, indie sale deadlines, and several Switch and Switch 2 releases appear in this week’s update—check the eShop or Nintendo’s official site for the full list and exact dates.
