Level-5 has officially announced that Fantasy Life: The Girl Who Steals Time is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.
This upcoming release will offer fans a "Switch 2 Edition" of the game, joined by enhanced features that leverage the capabilities of Nintendo's next-generation hardware.
Players can look forward to notable improvements in both resolution and frame rate, promising a smoother and more visually appealing experience compared to the original Nintendo Switch version.
The announcement follows growing anticipation for titles optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2 platform, further broadening the catalogue of games available at launch.
While an exact release date for Fantasy Life: The Girl Who Steals Time on Nintendo Switch 2 has not yet been disclosed, the original version is set to debut on May 21, 2025, following multiple delays.
For those who originally purchase or already own Fantasy Life: The Girl Who Steals Time on the standard Nintendo Switch, Level-5 has confirmed that a separate upgrade pack will be available.
This upgrade will enable access to the enhanced resolution and frame rate features of the Switch 2 Edition.
Pricing details for this upgrade pack outside Japan are still pending confirmation, however, Japanese pricing has been set at 300 yen—approximately £1.50 or $2.00.
This affordable upgrade ensures that early adopters securing the original Switch edition will not miss out on next-gen enhancements.
At present, Level-5 has yet to clarify whether a standalone physical edition of Fantasy Life: The Girl Who Steals Time will be available for Nintendo Switch 2.
It is confirmed, however, that the standard Nintendo Switch release will include a physical version.
This means current-gen players will simply need to apply the upgrade pack to enjoy all the benefits on Switch 2.
Fantasy Life: The Girl Who Steals Time continues to build excitement as one of Level-5's key upcoming titles, alongside Professor Layton and The New World of Steam.
Notably, Professor Layton and The New World of Steam is also set for a simultaneous launch on both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 platforms, underlining Level-5’s commitment to supporting Nintendo’s hardware ecosystem.
With its anticipated enhanced visuals and performance, Fantasy Life: The Girl Who Steals Time is positioned to be a major draw for both returning fans and new players eager to experience Level-5’s creative storytelling on the latest Nintendo hardware.
As the game’s debut approaches, further updates—including the possible release of a Switch 2 physical edition and detailed upgrade logistics—are expected to be shared on official channels and during future Nintendo Direct presentations.
