Nintendo Launches Pikmin Bloom Mini Walk Event at San Francisco Union Square

Nintendo has officially unveiled its latest in-person event for Pikmin Bloom enthusiasts in San Francisco.

Starting May 23, 2024, and running through July 23, 2024, the Pikmin Bloom Mini Walk invites players to explore seven special locations around Union Square, directly outside Nintendo’s new flagship store.

This engaging event utilizes the Pikmin Bloom mobile app, leveraging augmented reality elements to deliver memorable, on-the-go gaming experiences for fans of the franchise. Developed by Niantic in partnership with Nintendo, Pikmin Bloom first launched on mobile platforms in 2021 and quickly garnered attention for its interactive gameplay that encourages daily walking and outdoor exploration.

The Mini Walk event builds on this theme by providing a digital scavenger hunt across Union Square.

When players pass by selected landmarks—such as a beloved sweets shop—they have the opportunity to earn exclusive in-app items like the Gold Seedling, which blossoms into a Macaron Decor Pikmin.

Collecting these unique Pikmin variants has become a highlight for many fans, contributing to Pikmin Bloom’s sustained popularity among Nintendo’s mobile offerings. To further amplify the experience, Nintendo has scheduled a dedicated pop-up tent event at Union Square from July 4 to July 6, open between 11 a.m.

and 6 p.m.

Visitors can pick up a complimentary physical Mini Walk map, snap a photo with Pikmin using the AR cam feature, and collect 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points for participating.

According to Nintendo representatives, attendees are encouraged to look out for life-sized Pikmin models and other immersive surprises as the virtual meets the physical world. This marks the second time a Pikmin Bloom Mini Walk has arrived in the United States.

The inaugural edition took place at the San Diego Zoo in late 2023, drawing enthusiastic crowds and catalyzing wider interest in location-based Nintendo events.

By choosing Union Square—a central San Francisco destination—Nintendo continues its strategy of launching innovative, community-driven experiences that bridge mobile gameplay and real-world activities. Alongside the Pikmin Bloom festivities, visitors to Union Square can immerse themselves in additional floral displays and community attractions in the area.
