Blaze Entertainment, the creator behind the Evercade range of retro gaming devices, has announced a significant partnership with legendary Japanese developer SNK to deliver new Neo Geo-related products.
Scheduled for release across 2025 and 2026, this collaboration promises to bring classic SNK titles to a broader audience through the growing Evercade platform.
SNK, a company with deep roots in the video game industry, earned global recognition for its Neo Geo hardware line that ran from the early 1990s to the early 2000s.
Neo Geo became synonymous with iconic franchises such as Metal Slug, King of Fighters, and Samurai Shodown, continuing to attract a dedicated following even decades later.
In recent years, SNK has revitalized its legacy, with support from the MiSK Foundation, which has owned the company since 2022.
According to Blaze Entertainment Ltd’s CEO, Andrew Byatt, this new venture is much more than a routine licensing agreement.
“Blaze is honored to collaborate with SNK, whose games stand among the most innovative and celebrated in gaming history.
We see this not just as an opportunity to expand our offerings, but as a chance to celebrate the artistry and heritage of Neo Geo—bringing these legendary titles to a new generation and reconnecting long-time fans with their favorites,” Byatt stated in a recent release.
The Evercade ecosystem currently features multiple hardware options, including the Evercade EXP handheld, Evercade VS home console, and Evercade Alpha bartop arcade machine.
All platforms utilize the versatile Evercade cartridge system, making it easy for users to enjoy a library of curated retro games.
Additionally, the HyperMegaTech Super Pocket line, another Blaze brand, supports Evercade cartridges and appeals to enthusiasts seeking both portability and nostalgia.
Blaze Entertainment has a history of securing exclusive rights to classic gaming catalogs, having previously partnered with Atari, Capcom, and Taito to deliver cartridge collections for the Evercade platform.
The impending SNK collaboration signals the potential arrival of Neo Geo cartridge collections and possibly hardware pre-loaded with beloved SNK classics, though further details about the specific products will be shared in late Q1 2025.
Founded in 1978 as Shin Nihon Kikaku by Eikichi Kawasaki, SNK has consistently remained a key player in the arcade and home gaming space.
Its involvement with Evercade is poised to extend the reach of its celebrated franchises and contribute to a vibrant retro gaming community on platforms like the Nintendo Switch eShop and beyond.
With meticulously curated collections and a growing slate of partnerships, Evercade continues to position itself as a premier destination for retro gaming aficionados, while the addition of SNK’s Neo Geo library raises expectations for what collectors and fans can look forward to in 2025 and 2026.
Stay tuned for more updates as Blaze and SNK reveal further details about their collaboration in the coming months.
