Nintendo UK is gearing up for an action-packed weekend at EGX 2015, the premier games event in the United Kingdom, by hosting high-profile Splatoon tournaments and community activities throughout the show.
As one of the most celebrated titles on the Nintendo platform in recent years, Splatoon’s arrival at EGX underscores its position as a vibrant online multiplayer phenomenon and a mainstay of Nintendo’s competitive gaming scene.
Running from Thursday, September 24th to Sunday, September 27th at the NEC Birmingham, EGX 2015 brings together major publishers, developers, and thousands of fans.
This year, Nintendo UK's booth is set to transform into a hub of competition and camaraderie as Splatoon—developed by Nintendo’s talented EAD division—takes center stage.
In previous years, Nintendo Life hosted events for the 3DS and the UK Mario Kart 8 Championship, but 2015 shifts the spotlight squarely onto Splatoon, the innovative shooter that first launched on the Nintendo Wii U and later became a staple of Nintendo Switch lineups.
Nintendo Life staff are on-site, spearheading daily Splatoon tournaments and continuous freeplay sessions.
These tournaments are overseen by Alex Olney, Nintendo Life’s Games Media Award-nominated YouTube presenter, ensuring a professional and entertaining experience for all participants.
Attendees will have multiple opportunities each day to showcase their skills and compete for unique prizes.
Each day, the Splatoon tournament unfolds in a three-round format:
• Round 1: Qualifying matches from 11:00 to 12:00
• Round 2: Semifinals from 12:30 to 13:30
• Round 3: Finals from 14:30 to 15:30
Complementing the main tournaments are special 'feature battles,' which will accompany the finals in the third round, adding an extra layer of excitement.
The teams for these matches are being kept under wraps, but attendees are encouraged to return each day to see which notable players or surprise guests take up the challenge.
Aspiring competitors can register directly at the Nintendo UK stand, with team slots filling on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each day, eight teams of four—totaling 32 players—can sign up, making it essential for interested fans to arrive early to secure their place.
Prizes for tournament winners are promised to be noteworthy, in keeping with Nintendo’s tradition of rewarding its dedicated community.
The highlight of EGX 2015 for Nintendo fans, this event further demonstrates Nintendo’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, live competition, and the expanding appeal of its marquee titles like Splatoon.
Whether you’re a competitive veteran or a newcomer, EGX 2015 is set to offer a memorable Nintendo experience fueled by friendly rivalry, creative gameplay, and the unmistakable energy of the UK’s largest gaming celebration.
