Elden Ring, FromSoftware’s acclaimed action RPG and Game of the Year winner, is officially making its way to Nintendo Switch 2 with a new Tarnished Edition, as announced today by developer FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco.
Building on its reputation for challenging gameplay and expansive open-world design, Elden Ring remains one of the most significant releases in recent memory with over 20 million copies sold worldwide.
This highly-anticipated Tarnished Edition marks the first time the beloved title will be available on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware, scheduled for release in 2025.
During the "FromSoftware Games Event Spring 2025," new details about additional content for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition were unveiled.
Fans can look forward to both returning favorites and fresh features.
Notably, the Tarnished Edition will introduce two new character classes: Knight of Ides and Heavy Knight, expanding the ways players can experience the perilous world of the Lands Between.
While FromSoftware has yet to disclose full specifications for these classes, their addition promises to enrich the already diverse gameplay experience.
Customization enthusiasts will be pleased to learn that fully customizable options for Torrent, the iconic Spirit Steed, are now confirmed.
The Tarnished Edition offers three unique appearance modifications for Torrent, allowing players to further personalize their journey through Elden Ring’s atmospheric landscapes.
Additionally, the development team has reaffirmed the inclusion of new weapons, expanded battle abilities, and a suite of gameplay enhancements, ensuring that both new and veteran players have more content to explore.
Importantly, these upcoming features are not exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 version.
FromSoftware has clarified that players on all platforms—including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC—will be able to access the new Tarnished Pack DLC, promoting parity across the entire Elden Ring community.
This major announcement follows FromSoftware’s continued collaboration with Bandai Namco, which has seen the ongoing global success of Elden Ring since its initial launch in February 2022.
In addition, the studio is actively developing “The Duskbloods,” an all-new title set to be an exclusive for Nintendo Switch 2, further cementing its commitment to the Nintendo ecosystem.
The latest information comes via a report from leading Japanese outlet Famitsu, which has consistently provided timely updates regarding the studio’s projects and Nintendo’s hardware roadmap.
Fans eager for more details about the Tarnished Edition and Tarnished Pack DLC can expect further announcements in the coming months as the release window for Nintendo Switch 2 draws closer.
With the arrival of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, Switch 2 owners will soon have access to one of gaming’s most universally acclaimed adventures, now enhanced with fresh content and next-generation support.
