Square Enix has released a playable demo for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 via the Nintendo eShop.
The demo gives players a hands-on preview of the game's opening sequence, letting them progress through the story up to the conclusion of the Witherwood episode.
The full game is scheduled to launch on December 3, 2026 for both Switch platforms.
According to Square Enix, the free demo is designed to introduce core systems: players can recruit, raise, and synthesize monsters while experiencing the start of the story through Witherwood.
The company also confirms that demo participants will receive a bonus item set for use in the full game, and that retaining demo save data enables transfer of monsters into the retail release.
Save data will allow up to eight monsters from the demo—drawn from both a player’s main party and reserve slots—to be imported into the final game.
Square Enix adds that the demo enforces certain limitations: only monsters of rank G and rank F can be befriended while playing the demo, and some bonus content cannot be claimed within the demo itself.
The Wrangler’s Bundle reward for demo players includes Ring of Impulse x1, Bonus Ball x1, and Smoked Sirloin x5; these items are intended for use once the full game is purchased.
