Limited Run Games has officially announced a highly exclusive new release for iconic first-person shooters DOOM and DOOM II, offering what may be the most elaborate collector’s edition to date.
Titled the 'DOOM + DOOM II: Will It Run Edition,' this premium bundle is limited to just 666 copies worldwide and arrives with a price tag of $666 USD (or regional equivalent).
The bundle will be available for pre-order starting next week across several platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PC, and more, solidifying the enduring legacy of these legendary id Software titles.
The ground-breaking DOOM franchise, originally developed by id Software, revolutionized the FPS genre upon its debut in 1993.
Its sequel, DOOM II, followed a year later, expanding the series’ impact on gaming culture.
Now, Limited Run Games is bringing together definitive, newly enhanced editions of both games in a combined release, complete with expansive content and innovative physical collectibles that pay homage to the franchise’s legacy.
According to Limited Run Games, the 'Will It Run Edition' features not only physical copies of DOOM and DOOM II, but also an array of unique items themed around the series.
Notable inclusions are a box that can itself play DOOM, a handheld Cacodemon device (which also runs DOOM), a 3-inch floating Cacodemon on a magnetic base, a cassette tape soundtrack set featuring both classic and updated IDFKR soundtracks, a certificate of authenticity, trading cards, and more.
The package also contains bonus game content such as Sigil, Sigil II, and the collaborative new episode, Legacy of Rust, created alongside Nightdive Studios and MachineGames.
The enhanced versions in this bundle deliver modern performance upgrades and expansive content: players will find a total of 187 mission maps and 43 deathmatch maps, with cross-platform online deathmatch and cooperative play for up to 16 players.
Additional features include an integrated mod browser, BOOM source compatibility for community mods spanning the past 25 years, and accessibility improvements—such as a modern font, high contrast mode, and multi-language support (including Japanese, Korean, Russian, and more).
Gamers can also select between the original MIDI music and new recordings by composer Andrew Hulshult, plus enjoy native 16:9 support at up to 1080p and enhanced controls on Nintendo Switch hardware.
For fans seeking something more affordable, Limited Run Games is offering the DOOM + DOOM II Big Box Edition at $99.99, featuring much of the collectible content minus a few exclusives, as well as a standard edition for $29.99.
Additional items, such as DOOM-themed trading cards and a controller, will also be available.
PC buyers receive their copy as a digital Steam code packed with physical extras.
DOOM + DOOM II: Will It Run Edition and its alternatives present a rare opportunity for collectors and FPS enthusiasts to celebrate a foundational series.
The bundle underscores the continued relevance of DOOM and DOOM II on modern platforms like the Nintendo Switch and through the Nintendo eShop.
Pre-orders are slated to open next week via Limited Run Games’ official website.
