Description

After a year in early access, Gameloft has officially announced that Disney Dreamlight Valley is set to launch on Nintendo Switch and other platforms on December 5, 2023.

Contrary to its original roadmap and earlier descriptions as a future free-to-play title, Gameloft has confirmed that Disney Dreamlight Valley will now remain a paid game "for the foreseeable future." In a detailed blog update posted on the official Disney Dreamlight Valley website, Gameloft justified the decision to keep the game premium to ensure an ongoing, high-quality experience for players.

The studio stated, "This approach guarantees that we can continue to provide a premium game experience and fulfill our commitment to regular, free content updates, including new characters, realms, clothing, furniture, and additional surprises for your Valley." For those already enjoying Disney Dreamlight Valley through Early Access on the Nintendo Switch, PC, or other platforms, Gameloft confirmed that all current save files and accumulated Moonstones will carry over unaffected when the full game launches.

Players will continue to have opportunities to collect Moonstones for free via features like Dream Snaps and in-game chests.

Those who wish can still purchase Moonstones as an optional, fair means to enhance their gameplay, but the studio emphasized that all purchases will remain non-essential and consistent with the quality and balance expected by the community. Alongside the launch announcement, Gameloft revealed details on new game editions launching on December 5.

These packages cater both to new players joining via the Nintendo Switch eShop and those who supported the title through Early Access.

Special offers and exclusive content will be available for existing players, further rewarding community engagement since the game's initial release. Looking ahead, Gameloft will host a dedicated game showcase on November 1 at 1pm ET.

The event will provide an in-depth look at the upcoming Expansion Pass, new gameplay features, and the highly anticipated multiplayer mode, demonstrating the studio's ongoing support and expanding vision for the popular Disney-themed life simulation game. Disney Dreamlight Valley has already garnered significant attention within the Nintendo Switch community and across the industry, both for its vibrant crossover of Disney characters and consistently updated content.

By staying paid instead of pivoting to the free-to-play model, Gameloft aims to keep delivering a robust, player-first experience, backed by constant improvements and additions.

Fans can follow future updates via the game's official website, social media, and major Nintendo news outlets as Disney Dreamlight Valley prepares for its full-featured launch this December.
