Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is officially heading to Nintendo Switch 2 with full DLSS support, marking a major technical leap for the high-profile RPG on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.
Developed by CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 has already captivated players on PC and other consoles since its original release, but the upcoming launch on Nintendo Switch 2—scheduled for June 5, 2025—shows the Polish studio’s commitment to advancing performance and graphical fidelity on portable platforms.
DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling), an NVIDIA technology powered by dedicated tensor cores, promises to enhance both graphics quality and performance by using AI-driven upscaling.
Until now, DLSS has largely been the domain of high-end PC gamers, but with Nintendo partnering with NVIDIA for its Switch 2 hardware, features like DLSS and ray tracing are making their debut on a Nintendo platform.
CD Projekt Red has officially confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will leverage a version of DLSS specifically designed for Nintendo Switch 2’s hardware, utilizing NVIDIA’s advanced tensor cores.
According to a statement provided to Digital Foundry, this implementation of DLSS is enabled in all four gameplay modes: handheld and docked, each offering both performance and quality settings.
The result is a smoother experience and sharper visuals, whether playing Cyberpunk 2077 on the go or at home.
The developer has shared concrete details about the game’s performance targets across different modes.
Cyberpunk 2077 aims for a resolution of 1080p in all settings except in handheld performance mode, where the game targets 720p resolution.
CD Projekt Red explained that scaling can vary, starting from 2x and higher per axis, ensuring high-quality upscaling and image clarity regardless of gameplay context.
The announcement comes soon after Nintendo’s own confirmation that Switch 2 will support both DLSS and ray tracing, although specific game implementations were previously unclear.
With Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition now officially set to utilize DLSS, players can look forward to a visually robust experience on the new hardware.
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition launches alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, arriving via the Nintendo eShop and at retail.
As CD Projekt Red brings one of its most ambitious titles to a Nintendo system, it sets a new bar for technical innovation in the Switch ecosystem, demonstrating the potent capabilities of the upcoming console.
