Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven DLC Unveiled at Gamescom for Nintendo Switch

During Gamescom: Opening Night Live, developer Massive Monster and publisher Devolver Digital officially announced the next major content expansion for their acclaimed title, Cult of the Lamb.

Titled 'Woolhaven,' this expansive DLC is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch and other platforms in early 2026, further enriching the game's signature blend of action, strategy, and cult management.

Cult of the Lamb, originally launched in August 2022 for Nintendo Switch, quickly garnered a dedicated player base due to its unique combination of roguelike gameplay and whimsical dark humor.

The game invites players to establish and nurture their own cult of animal followers, complete rituals, and unravel dark mysteries across procedurally generated dungeons.

Since its release, Cult of the Lamb has sold over one million copies, becoming a standout indie title on the Nintendo eShop and securing a nomination for Best Indie Game at The Game Awards 2022. The upcoming Woolhaven DLC promises a wealth of new content and gameplay enhancements, aiming to expand the Cult of the Lamb experience in meaningful ways.

In an official statement presented during Gamescom, Massive Monster outlined the addition of two brand-new mountain dungeons, giving players more dangerous territory to explore and conquer.

Players will be tasked with rebuilding the lost ancestral home of the lamb, facing harsh winter conditions, and unlocking a new ranching feature to breed rare beasts essential for cult survival. “Woolhaven challenges players to bring back the lost souls of a forgotten mountain community while grappling with the harsh realities of winter,” Massive Monster stated.

“By restoring the ruins of this sacred land and reclaiming the mountain, you will uncover the long-lost history of lambkind and aid the forgotten deity, Yngya, to regain their power.

Every victory comes with a new threat, as players must fend off blizzards, care for their followers, and brave the mysterious dungeons where the past lingers.” Key gameplay features of the Woolhaven DLC include rebuilding and upgrading structures to protect followers from frostbite and scarcity, launching ranching operations to breed, tame, and ride rare animals, and navigating through new dungeons plagued by corrupted foes and hidden lore.

The expansion also introduces challenging weather systems, such as blizzards, which will push strategy and resource management to new levels. Though a specific release date has yet to be confirmed, Massive Monster has committed to delivering this feature-rich expansion in early 2026.

Nintendo Switch users can look forward to experiencing Woolhaven on their preferred hardware, either via the eShop or as part of other scheduled releases.
