Argonaut Games Confirms Croc 2 Remaster for Nintendo Switch, Release Set for October 29, 2026
Argonaut Games has announced that Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos, the remaster of the 1999 platformer, will launch digitally on Nintendo Switch on October 29, 2026.
The release date places the title just ahead of Halloween and follows the developer's earlier Croc: Legend of the Gobbos remaster, whose reception paved the way for this sequel update.
Developer announcement and release window
Argonaut initially indicated that a sequel remaster would depend on the commercial and critical performance of the previous release.
With that threshold met, the studio confirmed today that Croc 2 will arrive in Q4 2026 and specified the digital Nintendo Switch launch date as October 29.
The game will be available through Nintendo Switch digital storefronts, consistent with modern digital releases.
What the remaster includes
According to Argonaut, the Croc 2 remaster updates the original game with refreshed visuals and a range of quality-of-life improvements designed to bring the 1999 platformer up to current standards.
The remaster restores and expands features from the original while introducing gameplay enhancements such as a triple jump for Croc, intended to help players reach higher areas across the title's 40 distinct levels.
Behind-the-scenes content and Croc2pedia
The remaster will reintroduce a behind-the-scenes digital museum, now titled the Croc2pedia.
Argonaut says the Croc2pedia contains original development materials, cut content, interviews, and other archival assets that document the sequel's creation and history.
Story summary (developer paraphrase)
Argonaut summarizes Croc 2's narrative as a mainland journey in search of Croc's long-lost parents, complicated by the resurrection of the villain Baron Dante by the Dantinis.
The player progresses through four distinct villages, rescues captured Gobbos and faces a variety of Guardians, including a boss character named Soveena the Squid.
Context and timing
Croc 2's remaster follows the studio practice of updating classic entries for modern platforms.
Notably, the previous Croc remaster launched on the same day as the Switch 2 reveal Direct, an unusual confluence of gaming news; this October 29 release should give Croc 2 a clear spotlight ahead of Halloween.
For readers tracking release dates and platform availability, Argonaut's announcement confirms a digital Nintendo Switch release on October 29, 2026, with further distribution details expected as launch approaches.
