Argonaut Games has released the remastered edition of Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos on Nintendo Switch, bringing the late-1990s 3D platformer back to modern hardware with upgraded visuals and a suite of quality-of-life improvements.

The Switch launch follows the studio's recent efforts to reintroduce the franchise and arrives with a new launch trailer showcasing updated gameplay and content.

In Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos, players follow Croc as he travels to the mainland in search of his missing parents.

The story escalates after the Dantinis resurrect Baron Dante, who sets out to exact revenge on Croc.

Along the way, Croc visits several distinct Gobbo villages, frees imprisoned Gobbos, and confronts a roster of bosses and Guardians including Flavio the Thermal Fish, Venus Fly Von-Trappe, and Soveena the Squid.

Argonaut Games describes the Switch edition as featuring enhanced visuals and a range of quality-of-life improvements to modernize the original platforming experience.

Practically, the remaster restores Croc’s classic moves and adds new mobility options: triple jump, minecart sequences, car and speedboat races, hang-gliding sections, and a wooden airplane stage.

The release also includes a dedicated Croc2pedia, an in-game digital museum that documents the development of Croc 2.

The Croc2pedia contains previously unseen development materials, cut content, and a 90-minute Croc2mentary that features interviews with members of the original development team and the remaster team, charting the game's creative evolution from concept to completion.

The remaster preserves the family-friendly tone and platforming focus of the original while adapting controls and presentation for the Nintendo Switch.

The title is available now on the Nintendo Switch eShop, and fans can watch the official launch trailer released alongside the game.

Argonaut has also confirmed that Croc 1 and a separate Croc 2 Nintendo Switch 2 Editions project are in development, extending the studio’s efforts to make the classic series accessible to modern players.

For consumers and collectors, the Switch release offers a straightforward way to experience Croc 2 with contemporary enhancements while retaining the charm that made the classic platformer notable.
