Description

Dinkum, the charming Australian outback-inspired life simulation game developed by solo creator James Bendon, is officially headed to the Nintendo Switch.

As unveiled during the latest Nintendo Direct, publisher Krafton confirmed that Dinkum will make its debut on the Nintendo Switch platform on November 9, 2024.

To build anticipation, a playable demo is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch eShop later today, giving players an early taste of what lies ahead.

First released in Early Access on Steam in 2022, Dinkum quickly built a devoted fanbase and achieved significant acclaim, amassing over 14,000 “Very Positive” user reviews.

Its full PC release arrived in April 2024, further cementing its status within the crowded cozy game genre.

The Switch port is being handled by South Korean studio 5minlab, known for their expertise in adapting PC experiences for consoles.

Set against a vibrant Australian outback backdrop, Dinkum invites players to farm, build, forage, and even hunt sharks as they develop their dream island.

The gameplay offers day-night cycles, extensive island customization, and online multiplayer, elements that have resonated with over 1.4 million PC players to date.

Features such as 25-minute in-game days and a variety of flora and fauna give it a uniquely Aussie flavor among life simulation games.

Commenting on the Switch release, James Bendon conveyed that the Nintendo console has been the top-requested platform among Dinkum fans, noting that players have waited a considerable time to experience the game outside of PC.

He emphasized that multiplayer content and updates will remain available on both Switch and PC, though the timing of content releases may differ between the platforms.

An exclusive in-game Battlegrounds costume will also be included for Switch users, adding a special incentive for new and returning players.

While Dinkum faces stiff competition from established cozy simulations like Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons, its distinct setting and community-driven gameplay are likely to attract fans seeking a fresh experience.

With its sales surpassing 1.4 million copies on PC, Dinkum’s expansion onto Nintendo Switch represents a major milestone for independent game development and for Bendon’s career. Players can download the demo from the Switch eShop today.

As the November release approaches, all eyes will be on Dinkum to see if it can cultivate the same success on Nintendo Switch as it has on PC.
