This lineup showcases a blend of classic franchises and exciting new experiences, all available on the Switch’s widely popular eShop platform. Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, developed by Digital Eclipse, hits the Nintendo Switch eShop on October 30, 2024, retailing for $49.99.

This comprehensive collection brings together a library of Mortal Kombat games from the franchise’s storied history, covering original arcade, console, and handheld iterations from the 1990s and 2000s.

Players can unlock hidden features effortlessly, challenge others in enhanced online matches thanks to rollback netcode, and enjoy local multiplayer via the GameShare function.

Adding to its appeal, the Legacy Kollection features an interactive documentary that delves into the evolution of Mortal Kombat, highlighting rare concept art, archive footage, and exclusive developer interviews.

Paul Hemming, lead producer at Digital Eclipse, stated that the team aimed to deliver “the ultimate retrospective experience for both new fans and longtime enthusiasts.” Joining the eShop’s heavy hitters is the DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake from SQUARE ENIX, also launching on October 30, 2024, and priced at $59.99.

This package combines the first two entries of the legendary DRAGON QUEST Erdrick trilogy, fully reimagined in the acclaimed HD-2D visual style popularized by SQUARE ENIX’s modern revivals.

Fans can expect the return of classic turn-based gameplay, robust monster encounters, and newly enhanced exploration elements, including underwater segments in Dragon Quest II.

According to a spokesperson for SQUARE ENIX, the goal was to maintain the traditional charm while revitalizing the games through “stunning, modern visuals and refined mechanics for a new generation.” Rounding out the update is Dinkum, a new addition to the growing Switch library, offering fresh gameplay experiences for adventure fans.

With these latest releases, the Nintendo Switch eShop continues to reinforce its reputation as a prime destination for both nostalgic favorites and innovative new entries.

Whether revisiting the brutal arenas of Mortal Kombat or exploring the timeless tales of Dragon Quest, Switch users have an abundance of noteworthy options to explore this week.
