The developer confirmed the Steam launch for Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.

JST (Wednesday, August 26 at 6:00 p.m.

Background and platform history

Dodonpachi Resurrection Reignite is part of Cave's Refine Series and expands on Dodonpachi Resurrection (known in Japan as Dodonpachi DaiFukkatsu).

Cave describes Reignite as retaining the original's 'overwhelming bullet patterns' and 'intense tactical play' while adding new stages, a new character, and new music.

The project is targeted at Steam, with support for seven languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese.

For context, Dodonpachi Resurrection first appeared in arcades in 2008 and has since been ported to multiple platforms including iOS, Android, Xbox 360, Steam and Nintendo Switch.

The original Steam port launched on October 14, 2016 and incorporated content from the 1.51 DLC and the Japan-only Black Label release.

The studio revealed Royale on social media in mid-June 2026 and later highlighted it alongside trailer material on the Steam page.

Fans responded enthusiastically on social platforms.

One user on X said the Royale announcement convinced them to repurchase the game, while another on BlueSky praised the mode's potential to reframe the shoot 'em up genre as a wild, party-style multiplayer experience.

At the same time, some community members flagged concerns about whether an active online population will be sustained long term.
