According to the Direct, Fortune’s Weave opens five years after the Heroic Games, as the Dagdan Empire faces annihilation at the hands of the revived demon god Balor.
The progenitor deity Sothis designates a single soul—the player avatar—as the world’s last hope.
Nintendo reiterated that the player’s character functions as the series’ central protagonist, as in previous Fire Emblem titles, and will be able to use the goddess Fortuna’s time-travel powers to revisit and alter events.
The Direct revealed four distinct Hero routes—Cai, Dietrich, Theodora and Leda—each representing a separate narrative path players can enter during the Heroic Games.
Cai is described as a villager who joins the competition to free his imprisoned father.
Dietrich is a battle-hungry fighter who washes ashore after a monster attack.
Theodora is a noble commander seeking to restore her goddess’s honor while defending her kingdom, and Leda is a musically gifted scion driven by vengeance for her father’s murder.
Progress is saved independently for each Hero, enabling players to pursue multiple stories in parallel.
