Monster Hunter Rise, which launched as a Nintendo Switch exclusive in March 2021 and later released on PC, has now sold more than 13 million copies worldwide.
Capcom revealed the update as part of a video commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Monster Hunter series.
In clear, journalistic language, Capcom's announcement noted that Monster Hunter Rise has surpassed 13 million units in lifetime shipments and digital sales, underscoring the title's strong performance since its Switch debut.
The company also reiterated that Monster Hunter World remains the franchise's highest-selling entry, with total shipments and sales reaching 23 million copies globally.
Monster Hunter Rise and platform history
Monster Hunter Rise originally launched on Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021, marking a high-profile release for the platform and expanding the series' presence outside PlayStation and Xbox ecosystems.
A Windows PC version followed in January 2022, bringing Rise and its major expansion, Sunbreak, to a wider audience through the eShop’s console-era counterpart on PC storefronts.
Where the franchise stands
Monster Hunter World, released in January 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and later for PC, set a high benchmark for the series with 23 million copies sold, a milestone Capcom has highlighted repeatedly since World became the company’s best-selling new IP of that generation.
The contrasts between World and Rise illustrate how Capcom has diversified its release strategy across hardware platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Looking ahead
Capcom also confirmed that the next mainline entry, Monster Hunter Wilds, is scheduled for release in 2025.
The announcement positions Wilds as the next major moment for the franchise as Capcom continues to leverage multi-platform launches and live-service style expansions to drive long-term engagement and sales.
These verified sales figures and platform milestones highlight Capcom’s steady stewardship of Monster Hunter, and they provide clear context for the series’ commercial and strategic trajectory leading into the 2025 release window for Monster Hunter Wilds.
