Capcom Hosts Mega Man: Dual Override Robot Masters Design Contest, Takaya Imamura Submits Unique Entry

Capcom Launches Mega Man: Dual Override Robot Masters Design Contest, Featuring Entry from Nintendo Legend Takaya Imamura Capcom has officially unveiled Mega Man: Dual Override, marking the twelfth entry in the storied Mega Man franchise.

In celebration of this major announcement, Capcom is hosting a global Robot Masters design competition on Twitter (now X), inviting artists worldwide to contribute their creative visions to the much-anticipated platformer.

The competition spotlights the iconic Mega Man brand, known for its enduring presence on Nintendo hardware like the Nintendo Switch and its eShop, as well as its legacy of innovative gameplay and character design. Originally announced earlier this month, the Mega Man: Dual Override Robot Masters Design Contest began on December 11, 2025, and will accept entries until January 1, 2026.

This initiative offers fans the opportunity to submit original designs for a Robot Master characterized by a right arm with extraordinary suction capabilities.

The grand prize is especially enticing: the winning design will be featured as an adversary for Mega Man in the upcoming game. Among the notable participants in the contest is Takaya Imamura, a revered figure within the gaming industry.

Imamura is celebrated for his prolific design work at Nintendo, where he crafted memorable characters such as Fox McCloud (Star Fox), Tingle (The Legend of Zelda), and Captain Falcon (F-Zero).

More recently, Imamura has developed the manga and game project 'Omega 6: The Triangle Stars'.

Despite his celebrated track record, Imamura has taken an active role in the fan-driven contest, submitting a creative Robot Master design called 'Gacha Man.' Imamura's design presents Gacha Man as a unique character able to launch capsules that release various enemies—including snakes, rockets, and smaller minions—to challenge Mega Man.

Once Gacha Man exhausts his arsenal, he replenishes his resources using an immense suction ability to absorb elements from his environment.

The concept offers a nod to Mega Man history, reminiscent of 'Gachappon,' a character introduced in Mega Man 4 for the NES and featured in later series installments like Mega Man III and Mega Man IV on the Game Boy, as well as the 1995 Game Gear Mega Man title. For artists wishing to contribute, the contest is open to participants aged 13 and older.

Entries need to be submitted through Twitter/X using the hashtags #MegaManDO and #DesignARobotMaster.

Capcom's contest not only reaffirms the company's commitment to fan engagement, but also strengthens the enduring bond between game creators and the vibrant Mega Man community. As Mega Man: Dual Override continues to generate buzz ahead of its upcoming release, the company celebrates both its creative heritage and the talents of new generations, ensuring that the iconic blue bomber continues to capture imaginations on Nintendo platforms and beyond.
