Capcom and Avi-8 Reveal Limited Edition 1942 Watches Inspired by Classic Arcade Shooter

Capcom Partners with Avi-8 for Limited Edition 1942 Watches Celebrating Iconic Arcade Heritage Veteran game developer Capcom has teamed up with British watch manufacturer Avi-8 to launch a pair of exclusive, limited edition watches inspired by its legendary arcade title 1942.

This collaboration brings retro gaming enthusiasts and watch collectors a unique opportunity to own officially licensed merchandise that pays homage to Capcom’s classic 1984 shoot 'em up. Avi-8, established in 2012 and renowned for its aviation-themed timepieces, is producing two versions of the AVI-8 X Capcom 1942 Flyboy Automatic Limited Edition.

Both editions are confined to just 300 pieces each, highlighting their scarcity and collectability.

These timepieces integrate the unmistakable pixel art from 1942 directly onto the watch faces, with the player’s iconic aircraft ingeniously mounted on the second hands—a faithful celebration of the arcade original’s visual style. Each watch variant features a distinct color scheme and design.

The Blue Ace is offered with a stainless steel case coupled with a blue nylon strap, and is retailing at £348 or $365 USD.

Meanwhile, the Black Ace edition elevates the design with a black stainless steel case and matching black nylon strap, available for £367 or $385 USD.

Both models embody both style and nostalgia, seamlessly linking the worlds of horology and gaming history. A spokesperson from Avi-8 remarked that partnering with Capcom presented an ideal alignment of passions, as their aviation-inspired craftsmanship resonated with 1942’s roots, which were loosely influenced by the historical Battle of Midway.

Both the Blue Ace and Black Ace are scheduled to begin shipping on August 4th, 2023, arriving in premium presentation boxes.
