Brave x Junction Nintendo Switch Release Delayed in North America and Europe Due to Content Concerns
Rideon's fantasy RPG Brave x Junction has seen its North American and European launches on Nintendo Switch placed on indefinite hold, following concerns about potentially illegal sexual content involving underage characters.
This setback occurs despite the game's prior successful releases on other platforms, including Steam and PlayStation 5, as well as its availability on the Japanese Nintendo eShop.
Brave x Junction, developed by Japanese studio Rideon, is a genre-blending RPG that incorporates card game mechanics—specifically blackjack—into its combat system.
The game was officially released in Japan and for Western audiences on other platforms on October 9, 2025, but the Nintendo Switch release for Western territories remains delayed.
Shortly before the game's planned launch in the West, Rideon took to its official X (formerly Twitter) account to announce the delay.
In a recent update, the developer shared a sequence of images designed to resemble in-game screenshots, where characters addressed the issue directly.
These images clarified that some character designs raised concerns for depicting individuals who could be interpreted as underage in risqué situations.
In an explicit public statement, Rideon asserted their stance against any content that could be construed as sexualizing minors.
One visual shared by the developer included a clearly visible in-game poster with the statement, “We won’t stand for sexual content involving children.” This direct response was intended to reassure both players and regulatory authorities that the content in question was unintentional and that such depictions are not in line with the development team's values.
While Brave x Junction continues to be playable on the Japanese eShop for Nintendo Switch, and copies remain available on both Steam and PlayStation 5 with no reported issues, Nintendo Switch users in North America and Europe currently have no access to the title.
Rideon has not yet clarified whether the game will be modified to comply with stricter Western regulations or when—or if—a new release date will be scheduled for these regions.
For now, the future of Brave x Junction's Western release on Nintendo Switch remains uncertain, pending further decisions by Rideon and any potential changes to the game's content.
Industry watchers and fans alike are encouraged to stay tuned for updates as the developer navigates the approval process.
