RideOn Japan has officially announced the upcoming release of Brave x Junction for the Nintendo Switch, bringing a distinctive blend of RPG adventure and blackjack strategy to the popular gaming platform.
While an exact launch date has not yet been confirmed, the game is slated to hit the Nintendo Switch eShop later this year, marking another innovative entry in RideOn Japan’s portfolio.
Brave x Junction combines traditional fantasy RPG elements with the mechanics of the classic playing card game blackjack.
Players are tasked with battling a diverse array of monsters using a turn-based system where victory depends on whose hand gets closest to 21—mirroring the tense back-and-forth found in blackjack.
This inventive approach is poised to appeal to fans of both strategy card games and narrative-driven adventures.
The game features three unique playable characters: a Fighter known for direct, courageous attacks; a Thief skilled in danger detection and evasion; and a Magician who uses cunning and illusions.
Each character brings their own tactical flavor to the one-on-one card-based combat, giving players the freedom to tailor their approach—whether through raw power, clever trickery, or tactical luck.
RideOn Japan’s Brave x Junction offers more than just battles.
Players will venture through dungeons inhabited by familiar fantasy RPG creatures such as slimes, orcs, dragons, and ghosts, some of which use special card-based abilities to challenge even seasoned players.
Notably, characters and monsters from RideOn Japan’s popular series "Adventure Bar Story" and "Mercenaries Saga" will also make appearances, expanding the universe for fans of the developer’s earlier Nintendo Switch titles.
In addition to its core blackjack battle mechanic, Brave x Junction introduces an array of systems to deepen tactical gameplay.
Players can collect boost cards to upgrade their stats, learn new skills, and acquire equipment with unique abilities.
The in-game Armory & Forge allows for weapon and accessory synthesis, enabling robust customization and innovative strategy development as players prepare to take on increasingly complex dungeons.
This announcement further establishes RideOn Japan’s commitment to creative game design and supporting the Nintendo Switch ecosystem.
Fans of strategy RPGs, card games, and Japanese indie developers alike should keep an eye on Brave x Junction as it approaches its 2024 release through the Nintendo eShop.
