Blue Prince Launches on Nintendo Switch 2 eShop, Physical Release Confirmed for Later in 2026

Acclaimed roguelike puzzle title Blue Prince made a surprise debut on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop yesterday, immediately following the latest Nintendo Indie World showcase.

Developed by a talented team focused on delivering unique, genre-bending experiences, Blue Prince blends challenging puzzles with procedurally generated layouts and an overarching mystery, making it a standout addition to the Switch 2 library. Blue Prince has already built a strong reputation among fans of the roguelike and puzzle genres, praised for its replayability and engaging gameplay loop.

The game’s arrival on Nintendo Switch 2 brings its innovative mechanics to a new audience, expanding beyond its previous releases on other platforms.

Currently, Blue Prince is available exclusively in digital format, but that will change later this year. When asked on Twitter about a possible physical edition, boutique game publisher iam8bit officially confirmed that a boxed version of Blue Prince will launch for Nintendo Switch 2 before the end of 2026.

In their statement, iam8bit wrote, "We are going to be bringing Blue Prince on Switch 2 to physical later this year!" While an exact release date has not been announced, this aligns with the publisher’s earlier handling of Blue Prince’s physical PlayStation 5 release, which arrived several months after the digital launch. At present, Blue Prince is available at a discounted price to mark its Switch 2 debut.

The digital edition is typically priced at $30, but players can take advantage of a significant launch week discount of 34%, bringing the price down to $19.49 across all platforms.

The physical edition, when it arrives, is anticipated to be offered at a price point similar to the PlayStation 5 version, which retails for $35. Blue Prince’s arrival on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop underscores the continued importance of indie titles in Nintendo’s broader strategy, as showcased in high-profile events like Indie World and Nintendo Direct presentations.

With support from renowned publishing partners like iam8bit, fans can expect both digital and physical releases that meet collectors' and players’ preferences alike. Blue Prince is available now on Nintendo Switch 2 via the eShop.

Stay tuned for updates on the upcoming physical edition and additional indie game announcements for Nintendo’s latest hardware.
