Splatoon Raiders Joy-Con 2 Release Date: Blue and Light Yellow Controllers Launch July 23

Nintendo has unveiled a new colorway for its Joy-Con 2 controllers — Blue and Light Yellow — timed to coincide with the launch of Splatoon Raiders on Nintendo Switch.

The announcement came during a Nintendo Direct broadcast, confirming the controllers will arrive the same day as the single-player Splatoon spin-off: July 23.

The new Joy-Con 2 colors are explicitly inspired by Splatoon characters Shiver and Frye, members of Splatoon 3’s in-game idol group Deep Cut.

Nintendo framed the release as a tie-in with the characters’ return in Splatoon Raiders, which will also include fellow Deep Cut member Big Man.

A dedicated Nintendo Direct focused on Splatoon Raiders is scheduled for June 30 and will provide a more extensive look at the game prior to its July 23 release.

Nintendo previously expanded Joy-Con 2 color options earlier in the year.

In February, Light Purple and Light Green Joy-Con 2 variants launched alongside Mario Tennis Fever for Nintendo Switch, marking a broader push by Nintendo to offer themed controller options tied to first-party releases.

Rewriting the key announcement in plain journalistic terms: Nintendo announced that two new Joy-Con 2 controllers — blue and light yellow — are being released to match the Splatoon franchise’s aesthetic and will be available on July 23, the same day Splatoon Raiders arrives on the Nintendo Switch.

The company also confirmed a focused Nintendo Direct on June 30 that will present additional details about the game.

These releases reflect Nintendo’s continued strategy of pairing hardware color variants with software launches to give fans collectible accessories that align with major IPs.

Splatoon 3 and its Deep Cut characters have become prominent figures in Nintendo’s recent promotional lineups, and the Joy-Con 2 colorway continues that trend.

For Switch owners tracking release dates and special hardware, mark June 30 for the Splatoon Raiders Nintendo Direct and July 23 for the simultaneous launch of Splatoon Raiders and the Blue and Light Yellow Joy-Con 2 controllers.

Further distribution details and pricing information are expected in follow-up communications from Nintendo and authorized retailers.
