Drinkbox has announced that Blighted, its upcoming Metroidvania action RPG, has been delayed to 2027.
The studio — best known for the Guacamelee series — said it is using the additional time to polish and tune the game.
Blighted was originally slated for release this year; Drinkbox confirmed the new target release year and reiterated that the title will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 when it is ready.
In a statement, Drinkbox representative Josh Davis said the team has grown and continued working hard on the project, but still requires more time to refine the experience before launch.
Paraphrasing Davis’s message: the developer feels the game needs additional polish and tuning and therefore decided to shift the release to 2027.
Drinkbox thanked fans for their patience and indicated more information will follow next year, while also promising one more developer update before 2026 concludes.
