Description

Bitmap Bureau, a well-regarded indie developer based in the United Kingdom, has firmly established its reputation for reviving classic genres and supporting a wide array of retro gaming platforms.

Known for projects such as the highly praised Xeno Crisis and the forthcoming Terminator 2D: No Fate, the team remains at the forefront of the UK’s independent gaming scene.

Their commitment to bringing retro-inspired experiences to platforms like the Nintendo Switch, SNK's legendary Neo Geo, and even collaborating with Limited Run on updating DOOM for the SNES, underscores their versatility and dedication to the craft. The much-anticipated Neo Geo release of Final Vendetta, a beat 'em up that draws inspiration from genre staples like Final Fight, has encountered a setback.

Originally launched in 2022 for modern platforms, Final Vendetta was always intended to make its way to SNK's classic AES and MVS systems, promising to deliver an authentic arcade experience to fans and collectors.

However, Bitmap Bureau has officially acknowledged missing its previously announced Q2 2025 target for this new version. In a recent statement, Bitmap Bureau addressed the delay, expressing regret and offering transparency about the development process.

The studio explained, "We know many of you were hoping to be playing the game by now, and we’re truly sorry to say that we’ve missed our Q2 2025 target." The team detailed various contributing factors, including ongoing efforts on Terminator 2D: No Fate, assisting Limited Run’s DOOM SNES port, and the management of several yet-to-be-announced projects.

These expanded ambitions necessitated not only increases in studio staff—now numbering around 30—but also operational upgrades to their offices and the accommodation of team breaks. Despite these challenges, Bitmap Bureau emphasized that the Neo Geo port of Final Vendetta remains a top priority.

To reassure fans, the studio recently showcased new gameplay footage featuring Karen, a newly playable character, running on original Neo Geo hardware.

This demonstration underscores both the company’s technical expertise and its commitment to delivering a high-quality product for the SNK enthusiast community. The studio concluded their update with gratitude: "To all the fans out there, we’re sorry we didn’t quite make Q2, but please know that we aren’t far away now.

Thank you again for sticking with us, for your patience and for the messages that keep us energised, especially after those long days! We can’t wait to get Final Vendetta into your hands and onto your Neo Geo." Final Vendetta remains a sought-after title with broad platform appeal, and Bitmap Bureau’s ongoing support for both retro and contemporary hardware, including the Nintendo Switch and Neo Geo, continues to impress the gaming community.

Fans can expect more updates from Bitmap Bureau as the studio finalizes the Neo Geo release and reveals further projects in development.
