Ariana and the Elder Codex Confirmed for 2026 Western Release on Nintendo Switch

Idea Factory has officially announced that Ariana and the Elder Codex is set to launch in the West on March 24, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.

This highly anticipated title will feature a complete English localization, making its debut after originally launching in Japan as Magical Librarian Ariana: The Books of the Seven Heroes in August.

Developed collaboratively by Compile Heart and Hyde, Ariana and the Elder Codex expands Idea Factory's growing portfolio of RPGs and action-adventure games available on Nintendo's popular hardware. Ariana and the Elder Codex invites players into a spellbinding tale where the protagonist, Librarian Ariana, embarks on a journey to restore the Seven Hero Codices—ancient books that have suffered grave damage, causing magic to fade from the world.

By wielding unique Librarian magic, Ariana enters each Codex, tackling a range of platforming and combat challenges to repair the magical tomes and return power to her realm.

The core gameplay blends exploration, combat, and creative mechanics that emphasize strategy and skill. "Players will adventure through the Seven Hero Codices, overcoming enemies and obstacles to unlock new Magic Spells and Skills," representatives from Idea Factory outlined in their announcement.

Throughout the game, Ariana earns spells and abilities, which can be customized and equipped across six available slots.

With more than thirty unlockable spells and skills, the system encourages experimentation and personal playstyle, offering depth for both newcomers and seasoned fans of the genre. Combat is a standout feature in Ariana and the Elder Codex, pitting players against formidable guardians—bosses that challenge reflexes and tactical thinking.

To aid in Ariana’s quest, Magic Items can be unlocked, crafted, and equipped to enhance her stats with buffs like elemental boosts, higher critical hit rates, and reduced knockback.

Completing repair points—special in-game challenges—swiftly rewards players with permanent health increases and other valuable enhancements. The Western version of Ariana and the Elder Codex continues the tradition of Idea Factory’s localization excellence, bringing acclaimed Japanese RPG experiences to the global Nintendo Switch audience.

The game will be available in both physical and digital formats via the eShop, expanding access for collectors and digital-first gamers alike. With its confirmed release date of March 24, 2026, Ariana and the Elder Codex is poised to capture the attention of RPG enthusiasts and Nintendo Switch players looking for a magical, story-rich adventure.
