SEGA has outlined a clear DLC roadmap for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, delivering a wave of free characters and a new music collection for players on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

The racing title, published by SEGA and available worldwide on both Switch platforms, continues to receive post-launch content that mixes legacy Sonic characters with cross-franchise surprises.

Key free character drops and schedule

- Classic Sonic — available now on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

- Axel (from Crazy Taxi) — scheduled to arrive in August 2026.

- Amigo (from Samba de Amigo) — scheduled to follow in September 2026.

SEGA has confirmed that each of these characters will be provided free of charge on both Switch platforms.

Alongside the character releases, the publisher announced the SEGA Music Collection: a rotating set of music tracks that will be added to the game with each free character drop.

Rewriting SEGA’s public position in journalistic terms: the company acknowledged that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds did not meet its initial sales expectations, but said it plans to continue supporting the game post-launch in hopes of growing the player base over time.

Paid DLC slate and confirmed dates

Beyond the free drops and music updates, SEGA reiterated that paid DLC is still planned.

The publisher is working on collaboration packs that will include licensed properties such as Godzilla and Evangelion.

In a further update, SEGA confirmed that the paid Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles DLC will launch on July 28, 2026.

Multimedia and availability

SEGA released an update trailer showcasing the new characters and music additions.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds remains available now on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide, and the free character drops and SEGA Music Collection will roll out according to the schedule above.

What this means for players and the market

The mix of free and paid content reflects SEGA’s dual approach: immediate, no-cost additions to maintain player engagement, and paid collaborations aimed at monetization.

With the confirmed July 28, 2026 date for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the August–September windows for Axel and Amigo, Switch owners can expect steady content updates through the summer and early fall of 2026.
