Release, platforms and upgrade details

According to the Weekly Jump announcement, the Switch 2 Edition will arrive in Japan on 29 October 2026 and will be available in a physical format.

CyberConnect2 and Aniplex confirmed an upgrade pack intended for owners of the earlier Switch release; however, the companies have not provided pricing or launch-window specifics for that pack.

When local release information is announced, publishers typically update regional storefronts such as the Nintendo eShop.

Sequel scope and roster

The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is an arena fighter from CyberConnect2 that builds on the first title’s foundations.

Developer and publisher materials state the sequel’s Story Mode continues Tanjiro Kamado’s journey and will cover key arcs from the franchise, specifically the Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc.

The game’s VS Mode roster is described as larger than before, featuring over 40 playable characters including Hashira such as Muichiro Tokito and Mitsuri Kanroji.

Returning content and sales milestone

CyberConnect2 confirmed that all characters from the original Hinokami Chronicles will return in the base roster.

That includes demons added through free post-launch updates as well as Entertainment District Arc characters that were previously released as paid DLC for the first game.

The original Hinokami Chronicles has exceeded four million cumulative shipments and digital copies worldwide, a commercial performance the developer cited as a foundation for the sequel’s expanded content.

Publishers typically follow major platform confirmations with regional release windows, pricing, and upgrade-pack specifics.
