Nintendo has officially confirmed a price increase for Nintendo Switch 2 in the United Kingdom, clarifying details that were omitted from its initial announcement earlier this year.

The company’s update, shared via an official social media post, adds UK and Euro-zone pricing to the regional adjustments previously disclosed for other markets.

The core details: in the UK the Nintendo Switch 2 will rise to £419.99 from £395.99.

Ireland and all regions that use the euro will see the Switch 2 MSRP increase to €499.99 from €469.99.

Nintendo says the new MSRPs for the Switch 2 (and the Nintendo Switch systems) will take effect on September 1, 2026 in the UK, North America and other major regions.

Japan implemented its change earlier, with price adjustments taking place at the end of May; Japan also saw an increase to the original Nintendo Switch pricing.

In a formal statement explaining the decision, Nintendo said that, because market conditions have changed and the company has reassessed the global business outlook, it will revise the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices for both the Nintendo Switch 2 system and Nintendo Switch systems.

Put plainly, Nintendo attributed the updates to shifts in the broader market and a re-evaluation of its global pricing strategy.

The company also made clear it does not rule out the possibility of further price adjustments for Switch 2 in the future.

This confirmation follows Nintendo’s earlier regional notices and provides concrete MSRPs and timing for retailers in the UK and euro-using markets.

The original Nintendo Switch, released March 3, 2017, built the platform and eShop ecosystem that Nintendo continues to support across its hardware generations; changes to system pricing therefore have direct implications for retailers, digital storefront promotions, and consumer buying patterns ahead of major Nintendo Direct presentations or seasonal sales.

What is clear from Nintendo’s communication is the company has set these new prices into the official schedule; any future changes would depend on additional business reviews.

For consumers and retailers, the key date to watch remains September 1, 2026, when the updated MSRPs take effect in most major markets.
