Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Bids Farewell With Thank-You Finale Ahead of App Closure

Nintendo is closing the gates on Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, its beloved free-to-play mobile app, with final service ending on November 28, 2024, at 3pm BST / 7am PT / 10am ET.

First launched in October 2017, Pocket Camp quickly established itself as a cornerstone of Nintendo’s growing mobile strategy, attracting millions of downloads globally and cultivating a dedicated player base over its seven-year run. In a unique twist compared to other mobile app closures, Nintendo has ushered in an emotional send-off with the in-game 'Thank-You Finale.' To participate, players can find the special 'Flower Card' in the Miscellaneous section of their Tools tab, give it to any animal at their campsite or in their cabin, and receive the 'Thank-You Flower Stand.' This interactive item grants access to a heartfelt farewell message, accompanied by fireworks and memories with camp friends—a nostalgic nod to years of community-driven fun. Nintendo released a statement that highlights its appreciation for the global Pocket Camp community, thanking players for their support and creativity throughout the app’s lifecycle.

This event provides an opportunity for fans to reflect on their experiences and bid a fond farewell to the app that reimagined the Animal Crossing universe for the mobile market. However, the end of the free Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp does not mean the end of mobile Animal Crossing experiences.

On December 3, 2024, Nintendo will launch Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete, a paid version of the game, on mobile platforms.

For an introductory price of $9.99 / £8.99 until January 31, 2025—after which the price will increase to $19.99 / £17.99—players will receive the base Pocket Camp experience along with additional bonuses, such as new Leaf Tokens and a convenient Camper Cards feature.

Importantly, existing players can seamlessly transfer all their Pocket Camp progress and content to the new app, ensuring continued access to their creations without additional microtransactions down the road. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp played a pivotal role in expanding the franchise’s reach beyond the Nintendo Switch and traditional consoles, introducing countless new players to the charm and friendship of the Animal Crossing world.
