Playmaji Unveils Major Hardware Upgrade for Polymega Base Unit and Announces Polymega Remix Launch

Playmaji, the company behind the innovative modular emulation console Polymega, has officially announced a substantial internal hardware upgrade for its Polymega Base Unit.

This news arrives as Playmaji looks to address production challenges faced over the past year, aiming to deliver improved performance and future-proof the platform for dedicated retro gaming enthusiasts.

According to a recent press release, the newly revised Polymega Base Unit is being described as ‘several times more powerful than the original PM01 model,’ thanks to a range of enhancements.

The upgraded system now includes additional CPU cores, faster clock speeds, twice as much RAM, expanded internal storage, and a quieter operation overall.

Playmaji highlights that the most immediate benefit of this next-generation hardware will be notably improved Nintendo 64 emulation performance, a feature requested by many in the community.

Playmaji also reassured its dedicated customer base that all existing pre-orders will be automatically upgraded to the new system at no extra cost, requiring no further action from customers.

More technical specifications are set to be revealed in the coming weeks.

The company has also confirmed plans to reopen pre-orders for the upgraded Polymega Base Unit in early summer, giving new customers an opportunity to secure the latest model.

In addition to the Base Unit upgrade, Playmaji provided long-awaited updates on the Polymega Remix and Polymega App.

The Polymega Remix, designed to offer enhanced flexibility for retro game collectors using Windows 11-compatible PCs and handheld devices, has now completed mass production and is en route to Playmaji’s facilities.

The innovative device enables users to digitally preserve and access their physical game collections, using the free Polymega App to manage and play titles across multiple supported operating systems.

The Polymega Remix connects to a compatible device via USB, supporting both CD games and, with additional modules, cartridge games.

Once digitized, users can easily access their game libraries through a familiar interface that includes a robust game database, customizable playlists, virtual display modes, patch support, and support for extended installations.

The app initially launches on Windows PCs, laptops, Intel Macs, and PC-gaming handhelds, with an aim to expand to more platforms in the future.

Pre-orders for the Polymega Remix are set to go live on Thursday, April 16 at 8 AM PST, with a retail price of $199 USD, making it the most affordable entry into the Polymega ecosystem to date.

Shipping for the Remix will commence in May 2026, while the Polymega App will be available for early access in May as a free download from the official Polymega website.

With Playmaji’s clear commitment to ongoing hardware innovation and software support, the Polymega platform continues to stand at the forefront of modern retro gaming—a position reinforced with this latest round of upgrades and expansions.

Expect further updates on features, platform compatibility, and expanded functionality as Playmaji readies its next wave of retro gaming solutions.
