Ice Goat Games has quietly brought its Game Boy-inspired pirate action-adventure Draco and the Seven Scales to the Steam storefront and itch.io, marking the end of a lengthy development and delay that originally pushed the game past a planned 2024 release window.

The studio bills the title as a retro-styled top-down dungeon crawler that blends land-based exploration with naval combat, and the Steam launch arrived with an introductory price and a pair of publisher bundles.

Release and pricing

Ice Goat Games released Draco and the Seven Scales on Steam last week and also made the title available on itch.io.

For the launch window the game is listed at £13.04 as part of an introductory offer; that discount is scheduled to expire on October 2, 2026.

Two bundle options are available alongside the solo purchase, packaged with Isle of Reveries developer desertcucco and Isles of Sea and Sky developer Cicada Games.

Gameplay and structure

Draco and the Seven Scales places players in the role of a pirate captain who must recover what the developer describes as his most prized treasure.

The game was designed to evoke classic top-down dungeon crawlers, pairing what the team calls “crunchy pixel art” with handheld-era sensibilities.

Players explore a sprawling overworld, progress through seven traditional top-down dungeons, and gather more than 15 collectible items to aid progression.

The game alternates between land and sea gameplay: on land players face dangerous enemies in dungeon and overworld combat, while at sea they confront monsters, rival captains, and a naval force identified in-game as Her Majesty’s Royal Armada.

Ice Goat has framed the narrative around a pervasive corrupting force that drives the story across the seven dungeons.

Visuals and audio credits

Visually the project leans heavily on retro aesthetics, with pixel art by artist Manelzin that intentionally calls back to handheld-era titles.

The soundtrack comprises sea shanties and chiptune-influenced tracks composed by Tohomoko, underscoring the game’s nautical theme.

Context for Nintendo fans

While Draco and the Seven Scales is currently available on PC storefronts, its Game Boy inspiration and design clearly reference handheld classics such as The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and the Oracle duology—titles many players discovered on platforms like the Nintendo Switch.

Ice Goat has not announced a console release to date.

Availability

Buyers can find Draco and the Seven Scales on Steam and itch.io.

The introductory pricing runs through October 2, 2026, after which regular pricing will apply.

The developer’s launch bundles remain active at release.
