Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp Delayed – New Release Window Announced for Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch owners eagerly awaiting the highly anticipated remake, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, will have to wait a bit longer to command their armies.

Nintendo officially confirmed that the game's release has been postponed from its initial December launch window, targeting a revised launch in Spring 2022.

The announcement was shared by Nintendo of America, who addressed the community with a clear update: the additional development time will be dedicated to critical fine-tuning and delivering a polished tactical experience. Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a reimagining of two beloved Game Boy Advance titles: Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising.

Developed by WayForward, with collaboration from both Nintendo and Intelligent Systems (the original creators), this project represents a significant effort to modernize classic strategy gameplay for a new generation on the Nintendo Switch.

WayForward is well respected in the industry for their attention to detail and creative excellence, often credited for revitalizing retro franchises. The gameplay in Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp remains faithful to the core strategic, turn-based mechanics that defined the originals.

Players assume the role of a tactical advisor to the Orange Star Army, directing ground, air, and naval units across varied battlefields through a series of challenging missions.

Utilizing Commanding Officer (CO) Powers adds layers of tactical depth—Andy can repair allied units in the heat of battle, while Sami offers enhanced combat abilities to troops.

Balancing the use of CO Powers is vital, as opposing commanders are equally capable of influencing the outcome. The package offers both single-player campaigns, following the stories of Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising, as well as robust multiplayer options.

Up to four players can engage in Versus Mode locally, customizing battle rules with features like adjustable funds per base and toggling fog of war settings.

These improvements are designed to breathe new life into the turn-based strategy formula while maintaining the charm and challenge fans expect. Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp will be available worldwide via the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch upon its Spring 2022 release.

The delay underscores Nintendo and WayForward's shared commitment to quality, ensuring fans experience the definitive version of these landmark tactical games when they finally arrive.
