Milano's Oddjob Collection, the beloved PlayStation 1 slice-of-life simulation and mini-game collection developed by Victor Interactive Software and Westone, is finally making its way to audiences outside Japan more than 25 years after its original release.
Initially launched exclusively in Japan in 1999, the game quickly earned cult status for its quirky charm, relatable protagonist, and engaging mini-games.
Now, thanks to a collaboration between XSeed Games, Implicit Conversions, and the renowned fan translation group Hilltop Works, this formerly import-only gem will soon be available to a global audience.
The announcement, made by XSeed Games and subsequently confirmed by outlets such as GamesRadar, states that Milano's Oddjob Collection will be officially released on December 9, 2025.
The game will reach a broad roster of platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC through Steam, GOG, and the Windows Store.
Priced at $14.99, this marks the first occasion the title will be accessible with an official English translation and localization.
Hilltop Works, recognized in the gaming community for its high-quality fan translations of Japan-exclusive games—such as Racing Lagoon, Jingle Cats, Aconcagua, and notably Boku no Natsuyasumi 2—has contributed significantly to this project.
While the group is known for its unofficial patches, this will be Hilltop Works’ first involvement in an official international release, bringing their expertise to the English localization process.
Commenting on the upcoming release, representatives from XSeed Games emphasized the importance of making cult classics like Milano's Oddjob Collection more widely available, stating their intention to preserve the game's unique atmosphere while modernizing certain features for today's audience.
Milano's Oddjob Collection follows the story of a young girl named Milano, sent to live with her uncle after her mother falls ill.
Alone at home, Milano seizes the opportunity to take on a variety of part-time jobs around town.
These jobs manifest as mini-games, ranging from food delivery and fruit collection to fast food service and even working as a nurse.
Players spend their earnings on redecorating their home, creating a relaxing and highly customizable experience reminiscent of other successful life sims.
In addition to a faithful English text localization, the new release will include quality-of-life improvements such as faster load times, save states, and a rewind feature—modern enhancements seen in other retro game re-releases.
Nintendo Switch owners will benefit from a free upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 version when available, ensuring the longevity of their purchase as Nintendo’s hardware ecosystem evolves.
With its official localization, expanded availability, and modern enhancements, Milano's Oddjob Collection joins a growing list of retro favorites revived for current-gen hardware—further cementing the enduring appeal of classic Japanese game design.
Mark your calendars for December 9, 2025, and get ready to experience one of the PS1 era’s most endearing life simulation titles as it finds new fans around the world.
